This feature enables you to seamlessly upload very large customer CSV files (up to 100MB) without worrying about browser timeouts or crashes. Our system securely processes your data in the background, validating each row individually to ensure no valid records are lost due to a few errors. Once processing is complete, you will receive an email notification with a detailed error report if needed.

After the status changes to COMPLETED, users can:
Upload another audience file (max 100 MB) in the same segment.
Continue uploading new files after each completion.
Delete the audience segment if needed.
Assign the segment audience file to any campaign.
Background Processing & Validation
After uploading, you do not need to keep the browser page open. The file is securely transferred to our cloud storage and processed entirely in the background.
During this phase, the system evaluates each row individually against validation rules:
- It checks for required fields (like Email).
- It validates data formats, such as dates (e.g., MM/DD/YYYY) and status values.
If any rows contain formatting errors, they are isolated into a separate error file while the remaining valid rows are successfully imported into your audience.
Understanding Your Results
Once the background processing is finished, you will automatically receive an email notification summarizing the outcome. There are three possible statuses:
- Successfully Processed: All records were valid and added to your segment. You can click View Segment in the email to start using your list.
- Partially Uploaded: Some records were successfully imported, but others failed validation. The email will include a Download Invalid Records File button to review the errors. Note: The Invalid Records File will be available for download for 7 days from the time the email is sent.
- Upload Failed: The file could not be processed. This typically happens if the required 'Email' header is completely missing from your spreadsheet.
Reviewing the Error File
If your upload was partially successful, downloading the Invalid Records File gives you full transparency into what went wrong. The generated CSV contains your original data along with a specific Errors column detailing why the row failed.
Common errors you might see include:
"Email is required".
"Invalid Birthday (Expected MM/DD/YYYY)".
"Invalid Status" or "Invalid Currency".
"Duplicate email address was detected and has been ignored".
You can simply correct these specific rows in your file and re-upload just those contacts, avoiding the need to start over from scratch.
