In email marketing, time is your most valuable resource. During our product discovery research, we discovered that email marketers were spending 75% of their time wrestling with design tools and only 25% crafting meaningful campaign messaging.

That upside-down allocation inspired us to build an efficient, intuitive email design workflow. Here is how you can use tinyEmail to navigate the template library, build designs from scratch, and manage your template collection.



Navigating the Template Library

To open the template library, click Templates on the sidebar menu, then click Show All to view the full library collection across five dedicated tabs:
  1. All templates: Displays the complete catalog of available email templates across all styles and categories.

  2. Saved: Houses all your custom-saved templates, cloned designs, and API-created templates for instant access.

  3. Staff Picks: Our handpicked collection of top-performing, high-converting template designs.

  4. Colorful: Vibrant, bold templates designed to make your promotional campaigns pop.

  5. Professional: Sleek, business-ready templates tailored for corporate updates, announcements, and formal newsletters.

  6. Minimalist: Clean, uncluttered designs focusing on simple text blocks and high readability.

  7. Automation: Pre-built templates optimized for automated workflows like welcome series, abandoned cart recovery, and transactional triggers.

Creating & Editing Custom Templates

  1. Click Create Template: On the Templates page, click the Create template button at the top right.
       


  2. Select Drag & Drop Editor: In the popup window, select the Drag & drop editor to launch the visual canvas.

  3. Customize Your Design: Build any layout you like using drag-and-drop elements (text, images, buttons, and spacers).

  4. Rename Your Template: Give your template a clear, recognizable name in the top bar so you can identify it easily later.

  5. Save Your Template: Click the Save button in the editor toolbar. A "Template saved" confirmation banner will confirm your changes are stored.
  6. Campaign Safety Rule: When you build a campaign from a saved template, tinyEmail assigns a dedicated copy of the design to that campaign. Future edits or deletions to the original template will never affect active, scheduled, or sent campaigns.

Template Versioning, Cloning & Safety Controls

  • Save As (Template Versioning): If you want to build a new template variation from your current design, click Save As. You will be prompted to enter a new template name, leaving the original template unchanged.
  • Clone from Templates List: Each custom template features a Clone option under the templates name menu. Clicking Clone creates an independent copy named "Copy of <template name>" that can be edited directly without going through campaign setup.

  • Unsaved Changes Prompt: If you attempt to close or navigate away from the editor with unsaved modifications, an automated prompt will ask whether you want to save your progress.
  • Duplicate Name Validation: Template names must be unique per account. If a name is already taken during Save As or Clone operations, a clear validation message will prompt you to choose a distinct name.
