Sent a Campaign by Accident? How to Pause, Stop, or Cancel It Mid-Send
Accidentally sent an email campaign, scheduled it for the wrong time, or spotted a critical typo mid-send? tinyEmail has you covered!
Until now, once a campaign started sending, it had to run to completion. If a mistake was spotted mid-send — wrong subject line, wrong audience segment, or a broken hyperlink — there was no way to intervene. You now have direct control over campaigns in progress, allowing you to temporarily pause, permanently stop, or cancel a campaign run before it finishes delivering to your entire audience.
Your Campaign Recovery Options
When you need to halt an accidental or misconfigured campaign send, choose the appropriate option based on your campaign's current status:
Cancel Scheduled Send (Queued Status Only): If the campaign is still in Queued status, you can simply cancel the sending entirely by selecting the "Cancel scheduled" option. This stops the campaign completely and returns it to Draft status before any emails leave our servers.
Pause Campaign (Launched Status): Temporarily suspends the campaign's sending process. When you pause a campaign, you have a 24-hour window to resume sending.
Stop Campaign (Launched Status): Permanently halts the campaign's active run and changes its status. While the active run is terminated, there is no time limit—you can choose to relaunch and resume sending to any remaining undelivered email addresses at a later date.Options Comparison Table
How to Interrupt or Cancel Your Campaign
Follow these simple steps to interrupt or cancel an active campaign run:
Navigate to Campaigns: Log in to your tinyEmail account and select Campaigns from the primary navigation menu.
Locate Your Campaign: Find the campaign you wish to interrupt or cancel. It must currently be in either Queued or Launched status.
Open the Options Menu: Click the three-dot action menu (â‹®) on the far-right side of the campaign row.
Select Your Recovery Action: Choose your action based on the campaign's status and your goal:
If the campaign is in Queued status, select "Cancel scheduled" to return it to Draft.

If the campaign is in Launched (actively sending), select Pause (for temporary 24-hour holds) or Stop (to terminate the active run).

💡 System Notice: Campaign sending or scheduling halts immediately upon selecting your action. The dashboard status will instantly update to Paused, or Stopped.
How Resuming and Relaunching Works
You have the flexibility to reach skipped or undelivered recipients with precision duplicate protection:
Option A: Resuming a Paused Campaign (Within 24 Hours)
When you choose to resume a paused campaign within the 24-hour eligibility window, tinyEmail automatically continues sending the campaign from exactly where you paused it. It utilizes the existing campaign database structure, ensuring that the remaining contacts receive their emails and nobody gets a duplicate send. No cloned copy is created!
Option B: Relaunching a Stopped Campaign
If a campaign is permanently Stopped, failed, or has already completed and you want to follow up with remaining unsent users, selecting "Relaunch to undelivered" (or Relaunch Campaign) triggers an automated workflow:
Smart Copy Creation: tinyEmail automatically creates an identical clone of the campaign layout and settings.
Targeted Recipients Only: The system calculates the exact list of users who did not receive the original send and targets only them.
Absolute Duplicate Prevention: This process guarantees that any customer who successfully received the original message will never receive it a second time.
What Happens to Emails That Have Already Been Sent?
Emails successfully dispatched from tinyEmail's servers before you paused or stopped the campaign cannot be recalled or removed from recipient inboxes. The recovery options only prevent the platform from delivering the remaining queued messages.
Delivery Breakdown Example: Consider a campaign scheduled for 10,000 subscribers. If 3,000 emails were successfully sent before the pause or stop action was triggered, those 3,000 subscribers will receive and keep the email. The remaining 7,000 emails are immediately halted and will not be dispatched.
Important System Rules: Good to Know
The 3-Minute Sync Wait: Just after pausing, there is a short, mandatory wait of approximately 3 minutes before the Resume option becomes clickable. This lets the backend database sync and confirm exactly who was already emailed. The campaign dashboard screen will display a real-time countdown timer to keep you updated.
The 24-Hour Resuming Rule: The Resume button remains active for exactly 24 hours after a campaign is paused. Once this 24-hour period expires, direct resuming is closed, and you must use the "Relaunch to undelivered" option to target the remaining audience.
No Editing While Paused: To prevent campaign database corruption, campaigns mid-pause cannot be directly edited. If you need to make changes to your email contents or segments, you must stop the campaign or relaunch it into a smart copy first.
Eligibility Criteria: These new campaign controls apply to all new campaign runs. Your account must be active on tinyEmail's current sending flow to utilize these actions.
