Reduce Spam Complaints with tinyEmail's Suppression Lists

Reduce Spam Complaints with tinyEmail's Suppression Lists

tinyEmail now offers a Suppression List feature, allowing you to exclude specific email addresses from your campaigns. This helps improve deliverability and engagement rates by preventing emails from reaching recipients who are not interested in your content.

Unlike other platforms that require complex workarounds or coding to manage suppressions (like using customer.status status='Unsubscribed' or status='Inactive), tinyEmail provides a fully managed and user-friendly solution. Our powerful tool simplifies the process, making it easier than ever to manage and improve your email campaigns.

Here's how to create a Suppression List:

  1. Navigate to Audience: In your tinyEmail account, go to the "Audience" section.

2. Create a Suppression List: Click on the "Add New" button and select "Add Suppression List" from the dropdown menu.

3. Configure Suppression List: A pop-up window will appear with the following fields:

  1. Suppression Name: Enter a descriptive name for your list (e.g., "Unengaged Subscribers," "Competitor List").
  2. Suppression Type: Choose "Email" from the dropdown menu. (MD5 HASH and SHA256 Hash options will be available in the future.)
  3. Global Suppression List: Check this box if you want this list to be applied to all future campaigns automatically. If unchecked, the list will be local and you'll need to select it manually when creating a campaign.
  4. Continue: Once you've configured the list, click "Continue."
4. Add Emails: You can add email addresses to your Suppression List in two ways:

  1. Upload Data from File: Upload a CSV or TXT file containing the email addresses you want to suppress.
  2. Add Manually: Enter email addresses individually in the provided field.
  3. Upload and Finish: After adding your data, click "Upload." Your Suppression List is now created!

How to assign a suppression list to a campaign:

  1. Start a new campaign: Begin creating your email campaign in tinyEmail.
  2. Go to the Audience page: Navigate to the "Audience" section in your campaign workflow.
  3. Enable the Suppression List toggle: You'll see a toggle labeled "Suppression List." Click on it.
  4. View available lists: This will display all the suppression lists in your account. The global suppression list will be automatically selected.
  5. Add local lists (optional): If you want to use any local suppression lists for this specific campaign, click the checkbox next to each list.

How to view/download the suppression list:

  1. Go to Audience: In your tinyEmail account, navigate to the "Audience" section.
  2. Toggle Suppression List: Click the "Suppression List" toggle to view your lists.
  3. Select the list: Find the suppression list you want to view or download.
  4. Open the options menu: Click on the three dots next to the suppression list name.
  5. Download: Click "Download" to download a copy of the list.

Key Things to Remember:

  • Global vs. Local: Global lists apply to all campaigns, while local lists need to be selected for each campaign individually.
  • Suppression Type: Currently, only email addresses can be used for suppression.
  • Data Accuracy: Ensure the accuracy of the email addresses you add to your Suppression List to avoid unintended suppression.

By effectively utilizing the Suppression List feature, you can refine your email targeting, improve your sender reputation, and increase the overall effectiveness of your email campaigns.
