Words we use on the platform
A good number of our customers are new to the email marketing game. Starting out, there are heaps of things to learn every day, including the language of email marketing. If you're struggling with the jargon, this dictionary might help as a quick reference guide.

- Abandoned Cart - It's a marketing message sent to people who added items to their Shopify shopping cart but did not complete the purchase. This email aims to remind and encourage customers to come back to your website and complete the purchase.
- Affiliate Program - A program that allows pre-approved partners to earn a commission when their contacts become a paid tinyEmail client.
- Audience - The target of your email campaigns and automations. Understanding your audience is a big part of the "science" of email marketing. That knowledge helps you create email content and strategies that connect with your audience.

- Automation -Broadly, it's the use of technology and software to automate routine processes. In email marketing, it is a cool piece of software based on triggers and actions. When a website visitor does a specific action, like filling in a form and opting into your list (the trigger), tinyEmail automatically sends a Welcome message (the action).
- Bounced - The percentage of messages that were sent but could not be delivered now and likely won't be successful in future campaigns.
- Browse Abandonment -tinyEmail sends an email to people whovisit a store page, look at some products, and then leave without making a purchase. Can you imagine? This email reaches out to those folks and invites them to come on back and buy something. This automation is not ready yet. Coming Soon!
- Campaign -A tinyEmail campaign is a series of scheduled messages that create touch points (in sales speak) and promote your business or organization in some way. Usually, the aim is to sell a product or service, but there could be other aims, like encouraging folks to watch a video or download a free ebook.
- Clone campaign - A time saving tool that help users quickly create a new campaign by copying an older campaign (including settings and content). Cloned campaigns are ways to customize.
- Conversion - A measurable activity that takes place on a store site, such as a sales or clicked link.
- Dashboard - It's the tinyEmail main page that summarizes all your important performance data, scheduled messages, number of signups, and more.
- Delivered - Total number of emails that were successfully delivered.
- DKIM - It's a really important part of email marketing, and if you don't know what it is, you should learn. DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is a security feature used to authenticate the source of an email and verify that it has not been tampered with during transit. Without a DKIM, messages sent from your organization or domain will likely be marked as spam.
- DMARC -Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC) is another email authentication protocol commonly used in conjunction with DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) and SPF (Sender Policy Framework) to enhance email security and protect against phishing and email spoofing. DMARC helps email senders specify how their emails should be authenticated, what action to take if authentication fails, and provides reporting on email authentication results. Applying this policy means emails from @gmail.com, @aol.com, and @yahoo.com can be sent using only their original servers.
- DNS Record - In basic terms,Domain Name System (DNS) is like a phone book for the internet. This naming system allows users to access websites with easy-to-remember domain names instead of numerical IP addresses.
- Email Service Providers - A web app or desktop program that displays your emails. Gmail, Apple Mail, and Outlook are a few examples of popular email service providers (ESPs).
- Export - Use this tinyEmail feature to export your reports with all their data in a .xlsx or PDF format.
- Forms - A valuable tool for lead generation. tinyEmail forms play a big role in online marketing, customer service, and data collection.
- Information - It is a place where you can learn about the functions and features of a tool or element, like an automation.
- ISP - An Internet service provider (ISP) is a company that provides customers with Internet access.
- Manual import - An easy-to-use tool to add a small number of email addresses to a new or existing audience.
- Opt-in - A key concept in email marketing. A website visitor gives you explicit permission to send promotional or informational emails.
- Preview -A campaign and automation option that shows you how the message will display on a desktop or mobile device.
- Preview text - A tiny piece of digital real estate that displays in your readers' inboxes. It's near the email subject line and, when optimized, communicates a clear benefit that inspires readers to open your message.
- Product Review Email -When a site visitor buys something from your Shopify store, tinyEmail sends them a message 14 days later if, during that period, the same person doesn't buy anything else. The message asks the customer to submit a review. Currently, this automation works only with Shopify stores.
- Scheduled campaigns - When an email campaign is built and tested, you can schedule it to be sent at a later date.
- Sender’s Email Address - The sender’s email address is what recipients see in the From field of your email campaigns. It also serves for replying to any emails or bounce messages and receiving test emails.
- Sender ID - This information verifies the sender’s identity using the From: or Sender: header fields. It is simply a different way to identify the legitimacy of a sender.
- Shopify Pro Plan - A free tinyEmail app available only to Shopify store owners. Get unlimited segments, our AI subject line assistant, and a crazy send cap - up to one million sends per month.
- Subscribers - They website visitors who filled in a form and opted-in to join your list.
- Template - An HTML file that serves as a starting point for a new campaign. The template's design layout and content can be copied.
- Template Editor - A tool to quickly add, delete, duplicate, and move content blocks/Items in your email layout by dragging and dropping the elements.
- Test emails - This tinyEmail feature lets you test and inspect a campaign message before sending it live or setting a future schedule.
- Thank You For Purchase Email - When a customer places an order in your store, tinyEmail sends the Thank you for purchase email. The message goes out one hour after the purchase completes. Currently, this automation works only with Shopify stores.
- Unique Clicks - The total number of unique clicks recorded in your campaign and automation messages.This measure does not count total clicks (e.g. someone opened a message and clicked the same link two times).
- Unique Opens - The total number of times your messages were opened one time. This measure does not count total opens (e.g. someone opened the same message two times).
- Welcome Series - When a visitor signs up with a form, tinyEmail sends them a Welcome message.
- Win Back Flow Email -When a customer places an order, tinyEmail sends a follow-up message 30 days later. The message is a gentle prompt to buy the product again or check other products in your store. Currently, this automation works only with Shopify stores.
